ŚNIEŻKA

Śnieżka Mountain Peak

Śnieżka also know as the Queen of Giant Mountains is located at an altitude of 1603 m above sea level, which makes it the highest mountain in the Sudetes and the Giant Mountains. It has been attracting tourists with the extraordinary beauty for many years. The rock cone is mainly built of metamorphic rocks also called hornfels, and from the west from granite.

The weather on the Śnieżka

The atmospheric conditions on Śnieżka are variable and strongly similar to the Alpine ones, which causes plant diversity unheard of in other areas. Characteristic for Śnieżka are strong hurricane winds (80 m / s = 288km / h), and fogs that limit visibility up to 300 days a year. Because the conditions are very variable, it is recommended to take extra warm clothes and a rain jacket with you even on sunny days.

How to get to the Śnieżka?

There are several ways to reach the top of mountain. The most difficult is marked in black, and it starts in Karpacz, at the lower lift to Mała Kopa, through Biały Jar. The next trail is marked in red, which starts from the car park under the "Orlinek" hotel, through the Łomniczka valley. The last two and easiest routes are green and yellow, and it starts from the Czech side of Pec pod Sněžkou.
